To provide help to the most innocent and most poorly treated children, the purpose of the Luhtanen Howes Charitable Foundation grant program is to support organizations that work to prevent child abuse or serve the victims with kindness. We hope to empower children who have been harmed, provide resources to organizations that can make a difference, and educate the community to address this important problem in our society.

Our grants fund specific projects that create local change on the issue of child abuse.

We fund projects that support abused or at-risk children and families and are targeted towards specific communities in southeastern Michigan.  We give priority to projects that employ proven strategies or develop innovative methods to create change and identify achievable goals to:

• Raise awareness of child abuse issues;
• Educate the community;
• Prevent child abuse; or
• Support victims in their recovery.
